The Samzsó toxic reptile (Samzsoensis reptilis toxicus)
A reptile is a creature that lives solely by its instincts. It only feeds, reproduces, and does whatever it wants. It cannot be tamed. When two reptiles meet and reproduction is not their goal, they usually fight, injuring each other.
There is a special, toxic reptile species known as the Samzsó toxic reptile. This creature hunts reptiles as well as single or partnered humans. Those it bites rarely die, but the venom causes transformation. A human may turn into a Samzsó reptile, while a reptile is downgraded into a caterpillar. Those strong enough to resist the venom remain unchanged.
Humans transformed into Samzsó reptiles continue the hunting cycle. As a result, more and more caterpillars and Samzsó reptiles roam the world, while the number of humans declines.
Caterpillars are either crushed or used as bait for hunting. Meanwhile, Samzsó reptiles bite with the purpose of downgrading as many humans as possible in the food chain.
Those who survive multiple bites gain the ability to distinguish between humans, reptiles, and caterpillars. Rare natural disasters may elevate degraded beings, but this is an exceptional occurrence.
The rule remains unchanged: a human either becomes a reptile or a caterpillar. And stays that way.
